On August 4 and 5, Lisa and Marilyn attended a two-day conference in Atlantic City entitled "The Reimbursement Derby" put on by Zimmet Healthcare Services Group, LLC. This consulting service advises the long term care home industry on issues relating to reimbursement, rehabilitation and nursing management. The conference focused on the upcoming October 1, 2010 Medicare changes to the MDS and the RUGS classification system. These changes will have a significant impact on the way nursing and therapy care is provided.
Clinicians working in the long term care arena must prepare themselves for these changes so that they can make the needed adaptations in operations and management of their department.
To this end Therapeutic Resources is producing a seminar geared towards therapy managers in the long term care setting.. The conference - 'Rehab Survival Under MDS 3.0 and RUGS IV: A New Model For Productivity, Caseload Management, Staffing and Revenue Capture' will be held at the Sheraton LaGuardia East on September 14, 2010. All the changes will be explained, along with the management strategies which must be implemented to ensure revenue capture.
