Developing and Implementing Effective Group Programming In Subacute/Long Term Care Settings
With the elimination of concurrent therapy, group programming is one of the few ways to improve staffing efficiencies while providing effective interventions which also facilitates socialization among residents. Yet groups are often underused due to logistical issues which can be easily overcome. This program (1) reviews the regulations relating to group use, (2) provides MDS definitions and requirements for capture, (3) reviews the fiscal impact of group programming, (4) presents key factors in implementing successful group programs including staffing and scheduling issues, (5) discusses obstacles to success, (6) reviews documentation requirements and (7) presents various group protocols.
