Today Lisa gave the final for the course she teaches, Health and Aging, at LaGuardia Community College. This class is mandatory for Occupational and Physical Therapy Assistants at the college.
The course was chock full of information about the older adult with a focus on how to improve their quality of life with Physical and Occupational Therapy. She used video clips and lecture material to foster learning. Students were also asked to present about an elderly person who had influenced them and describe the attributes that they admire in that person. Students were asked to critique each presentation, so that every student received feedback from each other - their first taste of peer review.
After the final, students were encouraged to critique the class. Honestly, the reviews were most favorable, with a majority of students noting that they would have preferred a shorter class twice a week, rather than the 3 1/2 hour chunk once a week.
