The Use of Toys to Enhance Learning Objectives in Small Children
As part of our efforts to provide ongoing professional development opportunities for our early intervention providers, Therapeutic Resources presented a free evening in-service entitled "The Use of Toys to Enhance Learning Objectives in Young Children".
Presented by Julianne Costa, OTR/L, DPT, Clinical EI Supervisor at Therapeutic Resources, the course focused on the selection of toys and items typically found in the home environment to foster mastery in visual, auditory, sensory processing and motor skills. Using case studies, video footage and a lecture format, Julianne demonstrated how to select and grade toys and activities to assure proper challenge based on age and abilities.
The program was filmed for inclusion in our Education Station: an online education program which will become available to our providers this spring.
