Marilyn and Lisa Attend the 91st AOTA Conference in Philadelphia

Marilyn and Lisa boarded a 7am train to Philadelphia last Thursday, to begin a three day whirlwind of education and networking at the 91st AOTA Conference.  While they live and breath OT every day of their lives (as owners of Therapeutic Resources), they couldn't help but be blown away by their profession, how it has grown and evolved, and where it is going.  Running from course to course, they heard such cutting edge topics as the "Apple iPad: Providing Revolutionary Opportunities In Evaluation, Treatment and Engagement", Medicare Policy Updates for Part A, Part B and Home Care, "Reimbursable OT for Dementia in LTC", Ethical and Legal Practices, State and Federal Pediatric Policy Updates, and "The OT's Role in Response To Intervention (RtI)" to name a few.

In between they networked with old friends and colleagues, visited Poster sessions, listened to their old professor and mentor -  Dr. Beatriz Abreau - present the Eleanor Clarke Slagle Lecture, attended the AOTF Fundraiser ("Dancing With The Stars of OT"), checked in at class reunions, and visited the exposition, which was filled with hundred of booths! Coming from a time when there were three or four published occupational therapy textbooks, the number of books available now for occupational therapists was mind blowing.  (BTW - Lisa and Marilyn have a contract with Slack to write a textbook of their own! Check this blog for updates!)

Marilyn and Lisa left the Conference on Saturday feeling so proud of their profession, the variety of opportunities it offers, and appreciative of the great career it has afforded them.
