Connecting COTAs and PTAs with Long Term Care Guidelines is this Weekend at Therapeutic Resources

This weekend Therapeutic Resources will be hosting, "Connecting COTAs and PTAs with Long Term Care Guidelines: Understanding Your Role in Revenue, Enhancement, and Compliance"

Here's a rundown of what we'll be covering:

8:30-9:00 AM: Registration

9:00-10:45 AM: Medicare and Medicaid Uncovered:Understanding Reimbursement in the Long Term Care EnvironmentAs clinicians working in the long term care arena it is critical that we understand reimbursement systems, and how our decisions impact revenue. Here we will review the various reimbursement systems (Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care), how they differ and how their differences impact on treatment and documentation. We will review Medicaid Case Mix (RUGS III) and Medicare Case Mix (RUGS IV).

10:45-12:30PM: Understanding the MDS and Case MixWhat is the MDS? What is case mix? How do our clinical decisions impact on the reimbursement success of our rehab departments? Here we will review the specifics of the MDS tool, how the information is used by regulatory agencies and how it determines reimbursement. Rehab categories (RUGS IV) and their requirements will be reviewed.
12:30-1:00PM: Lunch
       
1:00-2:00PM: Understanding How Clinical Decisions Impact ReimbursementWith an understanding of the MDS tool, RUGS categories and how case mix works, we will now delve into the important area of how treatment decisions impact on reimbursement. Actual category rates and case mix indexes will be shared along with  a demonstration of how clinical decisions (reducing or increasing therapy minutes) impact revenue.


2:00-3:00PM: Documentation and Other Clinical IssuesThis section will include discussion of issues including documentation guidelines to ensure payment for treatment provided, medical necessity, the medical review process, group therapy indications and the role of nursing under these new guidelines.

3:00-3:30PM: Questions, Discussion, and Final Wrap Up
