Lisa Teaching at NYIT and LaGuardia This Fall!

Lisa has started the Fall semester with a bang,  Two OT programs beckoned and she answered the call  by teaching courses at both the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) and LaGuardia Community College.

The Occupational Therapy Assistant program at LaGuardia Community College has a very sophisticated curriculum that includes a course onClinical Reasoning Skills. This course focuses on the clinicians internal reflection of how they make decisions throughout their professional processes. There are various reasoning models that clinicians use to guide them in making intervention choices.  This course considers whether the choices they make are the most effective and appropriate for the patient. Lisa keeps the students on their toes through participation in heated debates and case studies that facilitate the integration of course material.

At the  New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) Lisa has been engaged to teach the graduate course OT Theory III, a hands on  lab treatment practicum which relates to the medical conditions being taught in the lecture portion of the course.  The skills learned in this course form the basis of therapeutic interventions which are central to the practice of occupational therapy.   Range of motion, muscle strengthening exercises, activities of daily living skills, clinical observations, screening and documentation skills will all be covered.  This is a lively class that prepares the students to be practicing clinicians. And once they graduate, Therapeutic Resources is ready to place them in the perfect position!
